Seeking Donations to Help Tiny the Dog Get Healthy Again
Posted by Life on the Scene in Animals, Pets on July 27, 2011
Last night when we arrived home for our day at work and summer camp, my daughter and I found a tiny, tiny emaciated female Chihuahua sitting on the sidewalk in our front yard. She immediately came to me with very little hesitation, her pencil thin tail slightly wagging.
She is very thin and weighs about 3-4 pounds right now. She definitely needs to gain a few pounds to be at a healthy weight again. Naturally we scooped her up and took her inside. A busy residential street is no place for a tiny dog to be, let alone any lost creature.
We offered her a variety of pet food – dog kibble, canned dog food, Pupperoni treats, peanut butter and finally, after a lot of sniffing around she decided the kitty kibble was to her liking. She drank a ton of water too.
After that we gave her a quick bath to wash off the first layer of dirt & grime and gave her a doggy t-shirt to wear and a blanket to snuggle up with and placed her in our extra-large pet carrier for sleeping (since we weren’t sure of her tinkle habits or if she’s been housetrained).
Lately I think the “barking chain” has been telling dogs in need the lady in the white house will help you! If you aren’t familiar with the barking chain, it’s the string of dogs barking in Disney‘s 101 Dalmatians that helps Pongo & Purdy locate their puppies and find safe hideouts and transportation along their journey.
Tiny is very thin right now. She needs a trip to the Vet’s office to make sure she is otherwise healthy, she needs to be de-wormed, receive flea medication, receive her vaccinations and eventually get her spay surgery once she gains some weight. She is super friendly and gets along with everyone in the household.
Won’t you consider skipping your venti Starbucks or big lunch out today and donate a few dollars to Tiny so she can become a healthy, happy dog again? We are always happy to help critters in need as they have no voice of their own in this scary world of crazy humans that neglect, beat and abandon them. We can’t save them all, but with the help of generous donors during this difficult economy we can make a difference to the dog or cat that is no longer sleeping under a bush tonight or foraging for food in a garbage can. Your help is appreciated! Please remember to spay and neuter your pets.
Lyric Culture Presents its ‘Electro Sexual’ collection With Private INXS Performance

Lyric Culture recently presented its ‘Electro Sexual’ collection during a private fashion show and intimate performance in Beverly Hills, CA at the Gibson showroom from iconic Australian band INXS.
Hanna Rochelle, founder of Lyric Culture, met the band in 2005 when they working at a recording studio in Los Angeles on their hit album, “Switch” with Rockstar: INXS winner J.D. Fortune. Rochelle was inspired by the colorful imagery, gritty and wildly expressive, often controversial lyrics in the songs penned by Andrew Farriss and the late Michael Hutchence. The ‘Electro Sexual’ collection of women’s apparel and accessories were unveiled in a runway show inspired by the INXS songs “Suicide Blonde,” “Devil Inside,” “New Sensation,” and “Beautiful Girl.”
Lyric Culture’s designs also capture memorable lyrics from the Beatles, Madonna, Rod Stewart, the Beach Boys, Miley Cyrus, Carrie Underwood and more on their stylish t-shirts and accessories. Their designs are available nationally at stores such as Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s, Nordstrom, Wal-Mart, and Claire’s Accessories.
The fashion show culminated with a private performance by INXS as a preview to their concert at the Wiltern Theatre. The semi-acoustic set show cased the talents of INXS band members Kirk Pengilly, Jon Farriss, Garry Beers and Andrew Farriss (guitarist Tim Farriss had the night off) but lacked in the frontman department as the performance went off with a big surprise – singer J.D. Fortune wasn’t in the house as the band opted to have their back-up singers perform lead vocals for the short set. The event was attended by music and fashion industry guests. Panda Express and Monster Energy Drink sponsored snacks & beverages for the guests. Please enjoy a semi-acoustic performance if the INXS classic, “Don’t Change”:

Robert Downey Jr. is back to super sleuthing in the sequel to 2009’s Sherlock Holmes. Downey Jr. will once again be joined by Jude Law as his famous sidekick, Dr. Watson. Noomi Rapace and Jared Harris as Professor Moriarty are also on board.
In Marvel super hero news, Robert Downey Jr. stepped out in Hollywood this week to support actor Chris Holmes at the premiere of Captain America which opens in theaters across America July 22nd.
It’s anyone’s guess if Robert Downey Jr. will show up at the madness & mayhem that is the wonderful glory of Comic Con in San Diego this weekend. Fans & journalists alike were shocked when several of the big studios announced they were pulling out of the traditional Hall H film panels. It’s beyond this reviewer’s comprehension as to why they would want to miss out on promoting their upcoming films to more than 100, 000 Comic Con attendees.
Summit Entertainment won’t disappoint the Twilight fans this year though. The cast of Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1 including Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Ashley Greene, Robert Pattinson and more have already hit the floor at Comic Con walking the red carpet to attend the Breaking Dawn press conference. Nikki Reed was outside greeting fans and signing autographs for fans who have been camping outside the venue since Monday.

Fortune who has been singing with them since he won the Rockstar: INXS competition in 2005.

INXS is running a competition on their site where you can win an upgrade to watch the entire show from the side of the stage (right next to the band as they walk on & off the stage!) along with a meet & greet with INXS at the show. 80’s alternative new wave band, Malcolm McClaren proteges, Adam & the Ants cohorts, Bow Wow Wow fronted by the stunning Annabella Lwin will open the night. Who could forget their classic hit “I Want Candy”? Have You Seen U2 on the 360 Tour?

Life On The Scene readers, I have been moonlighting, for a site called Tree.com doing some writing for their entertainment section and covering a variety of live events for them. One of the recent ones was the massive, long-awaited return of U2 to Anaheim, California where they took over Angel’s Stadium for two shows. They put on an incredible show, as one would expect from U2 with fine support from Lenny Kravitz to kick off the evening.
Here is a sampling of images from the evening and if you’d like to check out the entire review, slideshow and alternate set of images, please enjoy them here: http://www.tree.com/entertainment/blog-blog/archive-2011-06-22-u2-at-angels-stadium-worth-the-wait.aspx
I’ve also been covering events such as Bruno Mars, Duran Duran (who we were lucky enough to see before lead singer Simon le Bon suffered vocal cord injuries which led to cancellation of the band’s European summer tour), Honor Society and My Chemical Romance recently. I hope to get some links and images from those reviews posted for you soon.
Looking ahead, we hope to bring you coverage on INXS, Joe Jonas of the Jonas Brothers as he launches his first solo album, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part II (I can’t believe we’re at the end of the series!), Comic-Con and some projects Robert Downey Jr. is working on and Katy Perry.
Your comments and feedback are always appreciated!
