MCR launches Danger Days and World Contamination in Los Angeles
Posted by Cindy Robinson, Life on the Scene in Concert on December 7, 2010
My Chemical Romance recently launched their 4th album, Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys during a sold out show at the House of Blues on the Sunset Strip. The die hard MCRmy donned their Killjoy finest and lined up as far as 24 hours in advance to get a prime spot for this high energy rock show. MCR set up a carnival complete with a tattoo parlor on site and stilt-walker to entertain the Killjoys waiting in line. MTV broadcast the concert live across the USA.
Singer Gerard Way and the band burst onto the stage with the first single from their new album Na Na Na and never let the energy wane for the hour and fifteen minute set. It was a solid, fist pumping, rib crushing, dancing mass of sweaty people as fainting girls & stage crashers were passed overhead while the band paraded through new songs such as Sing, Planetray (GO!) and The Only Hope For Me is You along with MCR classics such as Desolation Row, Mama and Teenagers which had the audience eating out of their hands.
The band clearly enjoyed the energetic reception and strong sing along from the audience who even knew the words to the new songs.
The set ended all too quickly with the new track The Kids From Yesterday which felt hauntingly familiar yet fresh and new.
Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys is an instant hit and a great follow-up to the Black Parade – whether you’ve been naughty or nice, add it to your holiday list and hope Santa stuffs one in your stocking! My Chemical Romance – BEST live show of 2010 handsdown.
I see & review a lot of shows every year, My Chemical Romance is not one to miss. MCR launchs their World Contamination Tour 2011 with a show in Osaka, Japan on January 31st before heading to Europe in February and launching a US tour in April. Tickets are on sale now! As a note to fans in Arizona – MCR will NOT be playing Arizona during this tour so you’d better save up to head to the Hollywood, Bakersfield or Las Vegas shows.
The band are also playing a few Christmas radio shows like KROQ‘s Almost Acoustic Christmas across the USA in December. The tickets went fast, but if you’re lucky, you might still be able to score one.
Billy Idol To Play KLOS Christmas Show
Posted by Cindy Robinson, Life on the Scene in Concert on November 3, 2010
There may still be a handful of tickets left for these upcoming Billy Idol shows across California! Why not treat someone to an early holiday gift or great night out?
Tickets are on sale now for all shows via Ticketmaster/Live Nation.
Singer Billy Idol will headline Mark & Brian’s annual Christmas Show for classic rock station KLOS 95.5 on December 16, 2010 at the Nokia Theater in downtown Los Angeles.
The KLOS pre-sale begins on Thursday, November 4th with the public on sale beginning on Saturday, November 6th via Ticketmaster. A portion of the proceeds will go to support the Eisner Pediatric & Family Medical Center.
Mark & Brian will open the show with their all-star band including Paul Rodgers, Steve Lukather, Peter Frampton, John Waite, Michael Anthony and Jason Bonham. Comedian Ron White will get the evening started. Tune in to Mark & Brian on KLOS 95.5 every morning as they are sure to have an interview with Billy Idol before the big Christmas show and likely to give away some great concert tickets to the event.
Billy Idol will close out 2010 with a handful of Holiday shows in mid December around California including:
-
Wed 12/15 San Diego, CA: House of Blues
-
Thurs 12/16 Los Angeles, CA : Nokia Theater
-
Sat 12/18 Ventura, CA: Ventura Theater
-
Mon 12/20 San Francisco, CA: Fillmore
-
Tues 12/21 San Francisco, CA: Fillmore
Tickets are on sale now for all shows via Ticketmaster/Live Nation.
Billy Idol also has his self-penned memoir, Dancing With Myself, in the works which is due out from Touchstone, a division of Simon & Schuster in late 2011 or early 2012. Idol has never shied away from the truth of his rock & roll lifestyle so this is likely to be a great tell all unlike many of the glossed over auto-biographies we tend to see.
Idol also debuted several new tracks during his summer 2010 tour including one called Love Is Strange. Expect a new album & tour by the end of next year as well.
Linkin Park Premieres New Video Waiting For The End on MTV

The second single from Linkin Park‘s new album, A Thousand Suns is Waiting for the End. The video is out today on MTV.com.
A Thousand Suns evokes the feel of an apocalyptic world, full of dark emotion and melancholy. As a long time fan of Linkin Park, this one has been a challenge for me. The vocals by Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda are strong, the musicianship excellent on an album with an overall feeling of despair. Reviews across the board have been mixed, some calling it their best work yet while others are left wondering what the band has actually been working on for the last two years.
For this reviewer, I will classify this one as a grower – a new piece of music I add into the mix, encouraging myself to give it a few listens and let it grow on me. I’m curious to see how this album translates into a live show. The new songs are blending well into rock radio though, and generating a lot of talk.
A Thousand Suns is out now on iTunes. Watch Link Park’s site for news on tour information.
